Ongoing Requests to Continue to Bargain with UFCW Local 7

It’s disappointing that Local 7 president Kim Cordova is not engaging with the company to continue negotiations and keep you working. Instead, Local 7 is continuing down a reckless path to take you out on strike. We believe she is using you as pawns in a game that no one is going to win, as is evident, by her offer to extend  Safeway/Albertsons current contract and encouraging you to fill your prescriptions at Safeway/Albertsons. We have heard Local 7 is also encouraging King Soopers/City Market associates and customers to shop at Safeway/Albertsons.

Is Local 7 really looking out for your best interests? Why is she jeopardizing your paycheck and your future and not holding our competitor and its employees to the same standard? Nevertheless, here are a series of communications that we sent to your union president to get back to the bargaining table.

Company Letter to Kim Cordova in Response to her email not answering our request to bargain – January 8

Local 7 Response  – with no proposed dates to continue bargaining and no indications that they are willing to move from the union’s comprehensive offer  – January 8

Third Attempt to engage Kim Cordova to bargain – January 7

Second Attempt to engage Kim Cordova to bargain – January 7

First Attempt to engage Kim Cordova to bargain – January 7

Comprehensive Offer Questions

Instead of asking questions and addressing concerns on our Comprehensive Offer at the bargaining table on December 29-30, Local 7 President Kim Cordova continued her letter writing campaign.

You can download Local 7’s questions – many of which we have already answered in previous sessions at the bargaining table – and our responses. Local 7 should be focusing on reaching an agreement at the bargaining table – not preparing for a picket line.

Bargaining Unit Work/Wages

Once again, Local 7 President Kim Cordova sent a letter to King Soopers/City Market making false claims about bargaining unit work and wages. Instead of spending time on a letter writing campaign, Local 7 should focus on bargaining and reaching an agreement at the table.

You can download and review Local 7’s rhetoric and King Soopers/City Market’s factual response.

Pre-Negotiations Communication

Recently, Local 7 President Kim Cordova sent a letter to King Soopers/City Market making false claims and misrepresentations. Negotiations haven’t even started and Local 7 is trying to undermine negotiations already.
