Company and Union to Resume Bargaining

King Soopers/City Market and UFCW Local 7 are scheduled to resume bargaining this week. The Company and Union have agreed to meet for two days starting Thursday, January 2.

What’s Happened So Far

  • October 22-23
    • Initial non-economic proposals were exchanged. Numerous questions were asked and answered, and the respective parties’ proposals were considered and discussed, with some initial responses provided.
  • November 4-5
    • The Company modified its original language proposal in response to feedback and discussion. The Company also made counter proposals on certain union proposals. The Company tentatively agreed to modifications to union proposals concerning union stewards and a timeline for bargaining new job classifications.
  • November 22
    • The parties continued discussion on proposals, including counter proposals.
  • December 4-5
    • On December 4th, the Company presented its comprehensive offer which included wages, healthcare, pension and additional modifications to its language proposals.
    • On December 5th, the Union chose not to meet with the Company at the table following presentation of the Company’s comprehensive offer.
    • The Union did not provide wage, healthcare, or pension proposals of its own.
  • December 16-17
    • The Union rejected the Company’s comprehensive offer across the table.
    • The Company again invited the Union to make wage, healthcare, and/or pension proposals, which the Union elected not to do.
    • The Company shared a modified comprehensive offer based on feedback and discussion.

  • Our contracts with UFCW Local 7 begin expiring January 4. It is our goal to work together to find common ground and to reach an agreement before contract expiration that is good for our associates, our stores, and our customers.
