Company Focused on Reaching Agreement Despite Union Lawsuit and Delays

The company and union met again on April 16th and 17th at the bargaining table. While the company remains focused on progress, meaningful movement continues to be slow. As we work to reach a fair agreement, we want to make sure you have the facts about what’s happening—both at the table and in the news.

You may see reports that UFCW Local 7 has filed a counter lawsuit against King Soopers/City Market. Lawsuits can sound alarming, so here’s what you need to know:

  • Nothing has changed when it comes to your pay, benefits, or working conditions.
  • The company continues to bargain in good faith and has done so throughout this process since October.
  • The March 21 Part A of our Offer included larger wage increases that would already be in associate paychecks. The union allowed it to expire without reaching a deal or allowing you a chance to vote on it.
  • A strong, competitive Part B is now the standing offer and is still on the table, and we’re ready to discuss it.

We believe the union’s legal claims are without merit and will address them through the proper legal channels. This action will not distract us from what matters most: reaching an agreement that rewards you and supports the customers and communities we all serve.

What Happened Across the Table Today
The company and union engaged in discussions on safety and were able to reach a tentative agreement on the union’s emergency notification procedures proposal and some withdrawals. While any progress is good, there is still a lot of work to do to reach an agreement.
