The Company and Union Began Bargaining Today
Today, King Soopers/City Market and UFCW Local 7 began negotiations on new clerk and meat contracts. As promised, we are sharing open and honest updates about what’s happening across the table. Here’s what happened today:
- Chris Albi, Division VP of Operations, joined negotiations today to share the company’s opening presentation with the union bargaining committee, our associates. Chris, who began her career in King Soopers, shared an overview of the business and the company’s goals for this negotiation:
- Continue to invest in higher wages,
- Provide high-quality, affordable healthcare and stable retirement benefits
- Ensure stores are able to remain competitive
- The Company and union exchanged initial proposals for potential changes to both the clerk and meat contracts. These proposals represent ideas for discussion to help find solutions. To learn more about the bargaining process read Negotiations 101.
- The company and union are scheduled to meet tomorrow for another full day of bargaining.
- We will provide a detailed update after bargaining concludes Wednesday night. This update may be posted to this website late at night and will be shared by store leaders in huddles beginning Thursday morning.
