Union Stall Tactics Continue + Company Shares Modified Comprehensive Offer
At King Soopers/City Market, we’ve promised to be open, honest, and transparent throughout this process. That’s why it’s important to share our disappointment with UFCW Local 7. Unfortunately, the union’s repeated stall tactics and refusal to provide a comprehensive proposal raises serious concerns about whether they are truly bargaining in good faith.
To continue moving the bargaining process forward, on Tuesday the company:
- Shared a modified comprehensive offer based on associate feedback
- Reached a tentative agreement on some mutual withdrawals of proposals
- Heard directly from union committee members—your fellow associates—about concerns around working conditions like scheduling
Modified Comprehensive Offer: You Asked, We Listened
We’ve made meaningful changes to our offer in response to associate feedback:
- Withdrew a proposal to remove department managers from the bargaining unit
- Withdrew a proposal to change new store language
- Increased proposed minimum hours to 16 hours for associates hired after January 1, 2025
- Reduced the proposed measurement period for full-time status changes to 12 weeks for associates hired before the current contract expires
Open Discussions Must Lead to Action
You deserve solutions—not delays, and not more union talk without action.
- We hear your scheduling concerns and we share your desire to reach solutions before contract expiration.
- The Company has nothing to respond to until Local 7 provides a proposal or counteroffer. This is how the bargaining process works.
- It’s been two weeks since we shared our comprehensive offer. We encourage Local 7 to deliver on their obligation to share their wage, healthcare, pension, and staffing proposals.
Let’s Move Forward Together
We’ve answered the union’s questions, shared solutions, and shown we’re ready to negotiate. Your hard work deserves an agreement that:
- Rewards your contributions
- Protects your healthcare and retirement benefit
- Creates scheduling flexibility
We’re committed to moving forward together, but progress requires action—not delays or empty promises. Let’s focus on building solutions and reaching an agreement that works for you.
